The sidereal zodiac is fixed to the actual constellations, so a sign stays aligned with its stars. It is the older method — used by the Babylonians and throughout Indian (Vedic) astrology — and today sits roughly 24° apart from the tropical zodiac because of the precession of the equinoxes.
